CiDi Powers China–Vietnam Smart Border Port Upgrade with Fully Autonomous Operations
On the morning of December 19, a fleet of autonomous container trucks loaded with electronic products departed smoothly via dedicated lane, navigating autonomously towards Baoyuan Cargo Yard (Vietnam). This milestone marks the official launch of the China (Puzhai) – Vietnam (Xinqing) Smart Border Port dedicated freight corridor, opening a new chapter for cross-border logistics, empowered by CiDi’s autonomous driving technology.

As a key outcome of deepening practical China-Vietnam cooperation, the Smart Border Port project represents a pivotal step in implementing the China-Vietnam Joint Statement, and advancing trade facilitation. CiDi played an indispensable role in the project’s development, leveraging years of expertise in autonomous driving to integrate multi-sensor fusion perception, Vehicle-Road-Cloud (V2X) collaboration, and global path planning technologies into a fully autonomous, end-to-end customs clearance solution tailored to the complex operational scenarios of cross-border ports.
CiDi’s autonomous container truck system delivers 360° blind-spot-free environmental perception, enabling precise operations amid dense traffic flows and the ever-changing road conditions characteristic of border ports. The system supports fully automated, end-to-end workflows — from entry scheduling and high-precision positioning to automated parking and border inspection coordination — achieving minute-level customs clearance and round-the-clock 24/7 operations.
Throughout its technological R&D and real-world deployment, CiDi has targeted the core pain points of cross-border logistics. Addressing the dual demands for efficiency and safety at cross-border ports, the company has built a closed-loop intelligent dispatching architecture covering perception, decision-making and execution. Continuous optimization of its AI algorithms enables CiDi’s autonomous trucks to complete complex route planning, dynamic obstacle avoidance and emergency braking — ensuring every cross-border transport task is safe, efficient and fully controllable.
The successful launch of the Chinese section is a comprehensive demonstration of CiDi’s technological prowess, and a vivid testament to the company’s commitment to empowering industrial upgrades with technological innovation. Strategically located on the China-Vietnam border, Pingxiang is Guangxi’s sole border railway port and China’s largest land-based fruit import and export hub. Hailed as the "China-ASEAN Fruit Capital", the city has ranked first in foreign trade volume among China’s border ports for 17 consecutive years, and serves as a key land gateway to ASEAN and a vital node of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.

As a core contributor to the China-Vietnam Smart Border Port initiative, CiDi witnesses the evolution of cross-border logistics from traditional manual operations to autonomous, intelligent and fully visualized workflows. This effort advances China-ASEAN cooperation — simple trade connectivity to technical alignment and digital synergy. The successful operation of the Pingxiang Smart Border Port creates a replicable and scalable model for intelligent cross-border logistics, and provides a valuable reference for the intelligent upgrading of other border ports across the country.
CiDi will continue to deepen technological innovation and scenario-based applications in autonomous driving, delivering cutting-edge solutions to further upgrade smart port operations. Aligned with China’s strategy of high-level opening-up, the company remains committed to contributing its technological strengths to developing more competitive border economic zones and more efficient China-ASEAN trade corridors — positioning autonomous driving as a robust bridge connecting markets, industries and nations across borders.
